GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU
The Vienna based duo GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU, whose name was taken from the line of a Captain Beefheart-song, was founded in 2005. Manfred Engelmayr – well-known from the Austrian experimental noise-rock-band BULBUL - heads as Raumschiff (Starship) Engelmayr for final musical frontiers. With Karin Brüll – noted for her performances with the feminist artists group SCHWESTERN BRÜLL – on his side he emerges from the shadow of the male-dominated rock genre.
On their debut-mini-album "Wer hat von meiner Installation gegessen?“ (“Who has been eating from my Installation?“) – the concept of Electropop/–rock is extended by the aspect of weirdness with the help of impulsive electro-beats, wicked guitar sounds, experimental to tuneful clarinet-, trumpet-, and jews-harp-soli, a self-built axe-guitar, female and male vocals chanting dada-influenced lyrics, and a lot of exotic samples. Their musical ideas develop in "eight songs which all have it in themselves to become a smash hit " (Freistil, 05/2007).
Without doubt the climax of the album is the song "Blackseat Of My Car“. Characterized by distorted voices and a groovy beat based on the sound of a lighter, this song has encouraged Acid Pauli – aka Martin Gretschmann of the bands Console and Notwist – to produce a techno-remix. The remix appeared on the B-side of the flash-blue GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU 12“ maxi "Blackseat Of My Car“ on the Munich label Disko B in April 2007. Special feature: the side with the remix runs from the inside outwardly!
